...then again, i haven't given birth yet.
I don't want six other boys in his 1st grade class to have the same name.
I don't want it to be too 'out there'.
I want it to be spelled traditionally.
It has to match with an unusual last name that starts with the letter Z.
I want his future teachers to be able to pronounce it when reading the roll on the first day of school.
I want it to fit his personality.
I want it to work for him when he's a baby, a little boy, a teenager, and an adult.
I want him to like it. I want to like it. I want Darren to like it.
I want it to mean something.
I want it to be THE name.
Any ideas?

I have no experience in boy names. However, my friend is having a boy this summer. She and her hubby like short names and are thinking of Max, Levi or Jet. Just some suggestions I'm passing along. :) Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really is the hardest part, including labor and delivery. I agree 100% with your list. We have no clue where to start this time and are having a hard time even wanting to think about it. What about Anderson? Anderson Zufelt. Ha ha that does not sound like you guys, but it would be meaningful!
ReplyDeleteI take it back, getting enormous and having nothing to wear and feeling so uncute is the worst part. I'm talking about me here not you!
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be Scottish I am afraid - what about Hamish, Douglas, Bruce, Robbie, Andrew ( Andy)????I think you are gonna struggle finding something that macthes Zufelt, so it should be something which is a polar opposite. Enjoy these last few days while you can. It's tiring and you will get a burst of energy and euphoria once he is here. You will aslo phycially feel more like yourself. Can't wait to hear the news. In our prayers.
ReplyDeletelove and squeezes xxxx
i agree with joyous, Levi is a fabulous name ;). names are so hard. we have a funky last name too. if we were to have another boy, we would name him Ozzy. this obviously doesn't fit your criteria but i had to share. let me think on it- i'll get back to you. happy pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteZack Zufelf! say it a few times..I think it sounds ace!
ReplyDeleteHere's some sweet name suggestions.

Genghis Zufelt
Reinhold Messner
Conan O'Brien Zufelt
A Happy Accident Zufelt
Better than Darren Zufelt
Oh, here's a real suggestion. Don't name your child after someone already living. Its confusing. Take it from James Best the FOURTH.
Oh man, choosing is soooo hard. I swear girls names are so much easier. And I agree with guy, I like Wes Anderson ZufELt a LOT. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI asked Livee when we were in utah what you were going to name your baby and she said SPOT. It cracked me up. I know whatever you choose will be darling. Good luck and I can't wait to hear the good news.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! And to think that once you finally come up with the perfect name (because you will) then in another couple years you might have to go through the name dilemma again! Or maybe it just doesn't matter for all the other kids...
ReplyDeleteI may or may not use one or many of these....just sayin'. I would be thrilled if our sons had twin names so here goes...
ReplyDeleteAsher. Oscar. Johnny. Oliver. Isiah.
Try naming your third freakin boy! My favorite boy name of all time will always be Luke--my first born's name. After that, we ran out of ideas.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm with Ashley, getting huge and having nothing to wear is the worst part. I take that back- Being huge with huge nursing boobs after the baby comes is the worst part.
Perfect description of what a name should be! Maybe he'll come out with a name tag on:)
ReplyDeleteYou could always give him a Scottish name, since you brought him back from Scotland.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few I like:
Colin – Victory of the People
Ewan – Young Man
Gavin – White Hawk
or just Scott, for obvious reasons. :o)
Rufio Zufelt.
ReplyDeleteLuke Zufelt.
Anakin Zufelt.
Shooter McGavin Zufelt.
I saw Darren kiss a guy Zufelt.
or the tradional
Emo Zufelt.
So, having just gone through this, I would say that it is necessary to SEE the child first. Nicole was really sold on Samuel, Benjamin, and Luke. After he came out and had a day or two to look at him, it was pretty obvious he was an Isaac. So don't fret. When you see him, you'll know.
ReplyDeleteBut, If you do want a suggestion:
ReplyDeleteMontgomery Zufelt.
Donkin Zufelt
ReplyDeleteDon King Zufelt
Donkey Zufelt
Duncan Macleod Zufelt
Or maybe just call him by an initial:
Big 'D' Zufelt
Anderson! hah. My maiden name is Taylor and I wanted to have a girl named Taylor...but my cousin did that first.
ReplyDeleteMy fav Scottish names are Callum, Ronan, Gregor, and Iain.

ReplyDeleteI wont even try to name your baby for you. I can't even name the one I'm baking. :) You're absolutely right, the naming part is hard. (Take it from someone who HAS given birth!) My favorite place to go is the social security website. They have the actual names that people used during certain years and their popularity. You can even look it up by state if you want. Here's that site by the way: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/) Anyway, I'm SO excited for you guys that your little guy will be here before you know it. Good Luck! I know whatever name you pick out will be darling, by the way.
ReplyDeleteLindsey! I just saw your blog through Becky's blog and thought I would stop on by! Sounds like life is just about to get a whole lot crazier! I had my son Kyler 10 months ago, and I can't believe how fast time goes by! Good luck with the name thing, I agree it was the hardest part...well up until my 26 hours of labor and last minute C-section....ugghh! Still having nightmares about that one! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI loved every name you said you were thinking about when we talked at my wedding. I also think Zufelt is a great last name. It's unique. You'll know what to name him when you see him!
ReplyDeleteOh, and he will definitely be BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteSix things... 1)You don't need to choose a name before he is born. It can make a big difference once you hold him, look into his eyes and feel his spirit; 2)the spirit will prompt you and you will know after he is born; 3) I really like the name Jack. For all kinds of reasons you already know. 4) Don't take that name off the list just because a best friend named his son that almost five years ago. 5) Make sure the name you choose is a masculine name and not one that will cause teasing. 6) Trust that you will know in your heart when you have picked the right name.
