Diablo Cody (of Juno fame) is set to produce and direct a film adaptation of the Sweet Valley High books.

Rad.
The best Christmas present my sister ever got was the Sweet Valley High board game. Fantastic game. You were Jessica, Elizabeth, Lila, or Enid and the whole point was to go around the board trying to find their boyfriends and the items they needed for their date. Man, the fights we had over who got to be Jessica.
I never won...I am naturally an Enid.

Oo! I'm excited already.
ReplyDeleteI HEARD about this yesterday!!! Seriously, THE Best game EVER! I LOVE that game. I would play it now if we could find it. I was always Lila! The snobby one! :) I am SO SO SO excited.
ReplyDeleteI loved those books.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I loved those books too. In fact, I was on Amazon.com just the other day looking for the set so I could read them again to see if I still thought they were good! I feel ripped off that I never played the game. Maybe I'll do a search for that too! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is hysterical! I can't wait!! I never played the board game, but I always wanted to be the scandalous twin. What was her name?
ReplyDeleteOf course Laura wanted to be Jessica! This is hilarious. It will be fantastic. Can't wait. We should all go see it together and everyone has to wear something purple.
ReplyDeleteI've played that game. Freshman year of college. I liked being Lila. Unapologetically mean.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn, I hate/love the books (why did Elizabeth ALWAYS let Jessica walk all over her?), and I kind of just hate Diablo Cody...buuuuuuut, will I see it? An 8th Harry Potter book couldn't keep me from it (that is a total lie, but, I will see it).
Sweeeeet!!!! That is definitely my reaction. Loved the books. Hope the movie is just as fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Soooo excited.
ReplyDeleteI remember playing the game well, with you and Katie on the floor in our (sweeeet) bedroom, but for the life of me I don't remember one thing about how to play or what the point of the game was. I was actually shocked when I read your discription. That's what we were playing? I just remember having FUN and laughing and staying up late to play! Hilarious!
Oh man, I just browsed through the images of the link to the game....MEMORIES!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a serial reader when I was a child. I would read whatever was near. I read Hardy Boys, every Louis L'amour, Tom Swift, etc. When I started running out of boy books, I started reading through girl books. I plowed through Nancy Drew. And then one day I picked up a Sweet Valley High book. I don't remember it really, but I read it secretly one afternoon. This is the first time I confessed this.
