1. My first sweet sip of a re-fill-able-fountain-machine-with-ice-diet-coke.

2. We had a great time hanging out with the rest of the Zufelts at Jim & Heidi's wedding--which was fabulous. Other than their beautiful vows, the best part of the day was the location and the food.
Oh, and seeing my man in a tux for the first time.

3. Reuniting the Anderson family at Hogle Zoo.
Hilarity.

On memorial day we got to go eat french toast with these guys.

Whilst in Utah I also ate:
This salad twice:

A big bag of these:

And this while I was hiding out in my car in the Sugarhouse Smith's parking lot before I went in and perused their (incomparable) makeup isle looking for a new eye lash curler.

And so many of these I made myself sick:

I love America.
Oh, and part 2 will be coming soon.
Also, a Flickr account so that I don't have to blog so many pictures.
Also, us. Coming home (mostly) for good in December.
I can't wait.

so glad that you got to experience the best parts of america: soda and candy.
god bless the u.s.a!
It was so fun to see you--I love America too--long live the fountain diet coke--that's what democracy is all about.
Ha ha SO funny we miss you
so many cigarettes?
Wait, what do you mean by coming home mostly for good in December??? Are you not going back? Please explain!!!
I am so glad you got to come home and partake of the fountain black beverage. The wedding looks beautiful!
Where was their wedding? So pretty. I went to Italy for a mere 10 days or so and was so happy to be in my comfort zone when we got back. So fun for you to be there, but I can see how hard it would be at the same time. I can't wait until I can see your smiling face again!
Home in December!!?? Can I reserve you for a lunch date "tell me all about Scotland" date over the holidays? After all, I'll be living in the land of milk and honey. ;-)
Family and food. I don't think it gets better than that. Another testament to add to my testimony that there HAS to be food in heaven. What is a family reunion without food?!?!?!
The thing is, the joy you describe isn't even about being a returned ex-pat (don't you hate that expression?). I feel similar joy when returning home to California and eating at Red Robin and drinking buckets of coke.
I'm slightly jealous of all the pictures you have of fountain soda.
Maybe more than slightly.
Ashley--'mostly' for good means that we'll be home for nine months, then maybe back to Scotland. Still digesting.
All--thanks so much for the kind/funny words.
Ibid--Good eye. Obviously my Google images search for 'Route 44 Sonic' produced a doubled meaning photograph. I meant sodas.
Cute pictures, I love the carousel one...so funny!
Oh, the quesadilla explosion salad....my heart skips a beat for that salad. There are no Chili's in NYC and it kills me. I always order this and have been doing so for years....always with an extra ramekin of the citrus balsamic vinegarette which I could drink a gallon of I love so much.
Funny the food things you miss. Glad you had a good time.
Bes blog post ever! It makes me sad reliving it all. Did it really happen and now it's over?!?! Crazy. Before we know it December will be here. Miss you so much it hurts! Loves!
your pictures are great! love the writing- 'i'm happy and pretty'- priceless. so happy that you got to see your family and other favorite things.
p.s. the new pic of you on the side bar is smokin!
i love that this post was mostly about food, because when i go home, i too, blog all about food. there is nowhere like the west for fountain sodas! nowhere i tell you!
oh and chili's . . . . don't even get me started. . .
So, when you come back in December - is that to Idaho Falls? i must have been confused because Scott told me you were coming back to IF in the fall. But I guess December is the end of fall..
god freaking bless america and the refills of diet coke with ice.
seriously.
